Faster Projects, Page Management, Custom Legends, and Smarter Classes
Our latest Friday update focuses on speed, flexibility, and customization. Learn how new page storage, custom legends, and class enhancements are making estimating smoother than ever.

A Major Upgrade for CivilTakeoff.ai Users
This Friday’s update is all about one thing — giving users more control and speed inside their projects. We’ve re-engineered how pages are stored, optimized project loading, and added several customization features requested by our community.
Faster Project Loading and Page Management
Projects now use individual page storage for improved performance and flexibility. This change allows pages to be loaded independently, dramatically improving project speed and responsiveness.
You can now rearrange, delete, or add pages directly within the tool, making it easier to organize plan sets or incorporate last-minute revisions. The result is a smoother workflow that adapts to how you actually work.

Custom Legend Placement
One of the most requested features is finally here — custom legend placement. When exporting annotated PDFs, users can now choose whether the legend appears in the default top right corner or a custom location on each page.
This small but powerful update gives you control over presentation and ensures your exports look exactly how you want.

Smarter Company and Count Classes
We also introduced Company Custom Classes and Count Classes, designed to speed up setup and improve accuracy.
You can now save custom classes to your database and reuse them across multiple projects. Each count can also carry preset SF or LF quantities baked into the class, automatically adding those quantities to your worksheet. This means less manual entry and faster estimating.
Bug Fixes and Quality Improvements
We fixed an issue where the letters “SF” were incorrectly appearing as “LF” in annotated exports. Additionally, page load performance has been significantly improved — you can now enter a project space instantly while pages continue to load in the background.
This change reduces waiting time and keeps you focused on what matters — completing accurate takeoffs faster.
Why These Updates Matter
Speed and accuracy are everything in preconstruction. Each of these updates directly improves how estimators interact with their projects, saving time while maintaining precision.
The migration to page-based storage also sets the foundation for even more flexibility and advanced features coming soon.
